Trying to spruce up your backyard for the summer? It’s never too late to start a project that can give your backyard the oomph it needs.
1. Plant Lemongrass
You can buy a lemongrass plant from the grocery store, and plant it in a glass jar of water. Place it in the windowsill and let it sit for a few weeks. It should develop roots, and then you can plant it to keep mosquitos away.
2. Yard Chandelier
Replace the bulbs in an old chandelier with inexpensive solar lights. Hang it from a tree branch and you’ll have a glam yard without providing any electricity. It creates beautiful lighting and a vintage vibe if you get the chandelier from a second-hand shop.
3. Bigger Yard
If you want to create the illusion of a bigger yard, put mirrors on the fence. Using upcycle, old windows, replace the glass or empty spot where the glass used to be with mirrors.
4. DIY Chair Swing
Turn an old wooden chair into a tree swing by grabbing a few pieces of plywood and some string.
5. Glow-in-the-Dark Planters
Create instant night lighting by painting your planters and pots with glow-in-the dark paint. Create fun designs with regular paint and add a touch of design to the light.
6. Rainbow Fire
Make your bonfire flames rainbow with this pack of two rainbow fire crystals. This is the perfect addition to a party or when you have company over for a nice night.
7. Wine-Tiki
If you have some old wine bottles laying around, repurpose them as tiki torches to ward off mosquitos. Just fill them with citronella oil to keep them away.
8. Tree Stump Deco
If you’ve recently had to cut down a tree or you have a tree stump in the corner of your yard, make it into a table or planter, or cover it in flowers and moss to make it look pretty.
