Local Encinitas Haunted Houses!

Last week on my blog, I shared with you some pumpkin patches around Encinitas and Carlsbad that would be a perfect way to spend a fall day with the family picking pumpkins to carve and decorate your Encinitas house or Carlsbad house with. Now, as an Encinitas realtor, I can share with you some of the haunted secrets of the big city with you, in case you dare travel to San Diego this weekend for some frightful fun! Take a break from Encinitas or Carlsbad this weekend if you’re brave enough, and head on down to San Diego to fully bask in the joy of Halloween at one of these haunted houses or haunted hayrides.

Haunted Hotel
424 Market St. San Diego

Located in San Diego’s Gaslamp District, you can see the Hollywood movies come to life as you will find characters from Saw, Texas Chainsaw Masacre, and other frightful movies. The Haunted Hotel is open through Halloween, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (except the 26th and 27th). Tickets are $14.99 at the door and the hotel opens at 6 p.m., but if you’re really brave enough make sure to come when it’s really dark out. Come see San Diego’s premier haunted house, if you dare!

The Haunted Trail
Balboa Park

Located in Balboa Park in San Diego, The Haunted Trail is San Diego’s only all-outdoor frightful tour! It’s basically a haunted house built outside in the park. Wander through and try not to let the horrifying “fairy tales” characters come to life…or to death when you see them! You’ll hear the screams on your way up as this much terror is just too much to be contained in one house! The Haunted Trail is open at nights until Halloween and tickets are $14.99.

Grand Haunt in Escondido
333 E Grand Ave, Escondido

North County’s finest haunted house invites the people of Encinitas, Carlsbad, and beyond for the scare of their lives! It’s located at the old Antique Emporium building in Escondido. This 2,500 square foot, 15-room “Grand Haunt” is open until Halloween, except Mondays and Tuesdays. Lights-On hours are offered for younger visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 3p.m. to 5p.m. and the real terror begins from 5p.m. to Midnight. The ghosts, goblins, and mad scientists await anyone brave enough to enter, so be warned!

The Scream Zone

Ghosts, ghouls, and plenty of Jason-masked characters are back this year at The Scream Zone. There are three different ways to get spooked at The Scream Zone. Try navigating through the House of Horror featuring the New Orleans style graveyards and crypts, the Dinner Party Gone Mad, and plenty of other scares and frightful treats. Children under 10 may find the House of Horror too much, so take caution if you are planning on bringing small kids along. The second scary feature at The Scream Zone is the Haunted Hayride-an open-sided haywagon that leads its unexpected visitors through the hanted barns along the back side of the Del Mar Race Track. This is designed for the whole family, though some aspects may not be appropriate for small children. The final stop on The Scream Zone is The Chamber. A twisting maze of horror and surprises, you must make it through San Diego’s longest Spinning Tunnel of Terror! Watch out for the abode of La Llorona, a ghost from Mexico that’s lost the way home and ended up in the middle of the maze! The Scream Zone is open on Fridays and Saturdays through Halloween from 7p.m. to Midnight, and 7p.m. to 11p.m. on other days. Special rates for all three horrifying events, or single ride purchases are available as well, so you’ll be sure to have a scary good time, no matter how easily you are shocked and scared.

Mira Mesa Monster Manor
8235 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego

Mira Mesa Monster Manor is a destination meant for all ages of frightful fun this Halloween. All participants of this 4,000 square foot haunted house are volunteers, and it is a drug-free, alcohol-free, all-ages entertainment experience for everyone from Encinitas to Carlsbad. For some of the younger, and easily scared, victims, they offer a “Lite Frite” this weekend and next weekend (October 17, 18, 24, 25, and on Halloween). Night Haunt is open at 7p.m. on the weekends for some really scary entertainment, which isn’t suitable for younger visitors. Admission is $12 per guest, and kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult for the Night Haunts. No matter what your fright level is, this will be a fun way to spend the next couple haunted nights before Halloween.
