No Overhaul On Manchester Ave, Encinitas

As an Encinitas Realtor, I believe that it is important to update those who currently live in Encinitas and those interested in moving to Encinitas on local events and news. The latest news coming out of the Encinitas City Council is its decision to reject an overhaul plan for a specific stretch of Manchester Avenue.
In June of 2011, the Encinitas City Council hired an engineering company to conduct a study to address specific issues relating to flooding, safety, and traffic on a stretch of Manchester Road between Trabert Ranch Road and Colony Terrace. Three separate proposals were drawn up by local engineering company Dokken Engineering, the largest of which called for major overhauls relating to drainage issues, widening the road, adding two bike lanes, putting in pedestrian trails, installing left-hand turn lanes at intersections and straightening particularly curvy sections of the road in order to increase safety.
Several local residents took issue with the proposed overall and the city council decided in a 3 to 1 vote to reject the entire plan and to instead vote on pieces of the proposal individually. Parts of the plan – specifically the drainage solutions – will be voted on at future Encinitas City Council meetings. I will keep you up-to-date on any of the developments to this project.
