- August 20, 2013
If you are looking to buy a home in the North San Diego County area, San Diego Realtor Linda Moore is here to guide you through what you need to know.
The biggest factors in making sure that you buy the right home for sale in San Diego are the “Three R’s”:
- Right Questions
- Research
- Realtor
Luckily, your San Diego Realtor can help you ask the right questions and perform a majority of the research for you, which is why it is imperative that you choose a real estate agent that is experienced and trustworthy, but you should know what to look for in a home. Here is a brief guide to some of the questions and research you should perform when looking at homes for sale in San Diego.
Research the Neighborhood
Find out what the neighborhood has to offer you and what the liabilities may be. If the home you are interested in is located close to a school, could it be too noisy during school hours if you work at home? Don’t be afraid to talk to current residents in the neighborhood and ask them what they think the pros and cons of the area are. Look at the local news and find out if there have been any headlines recently that could affect your decision to move into the area such as new construction.
Detailed History of the Home
From asking the sellers about any past issues that they have had with the home that have been fixed to getting a home inspection and detailed records of past improvements, it is imperative that you get as detailed a view of the house as it currently is and issues from the past. If you intend on remodeling, talk to the sellers about certain issues as they may illuminate you to why the bathtub was installed a certain way or other idiosyncrasies of the home.
Schedule Multiple Viewings at Different Times
Getting to know your potential new home can be better achieved by schedule viewings at different times throughout the day. In this way you will be able to experience any noises that may come from a nearby street during morning rush hour or a loud playground after school or what angles light comes in during morning and evening hours.
Following a few of these tips will help you choose the San Diego home for sale that is best for you.
