The Encinitas Community Center Gallery located at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive will hold the opening reception for Connie Boulton-McCoy, The Joy of the Journey. Connie’s oil paintings explore realism as well as abstract art. You’ll be able to meet the artists while enjoying their work.

If you are more of a literary buff with a taste for historical rock and roll, Barnes and Noble is holding a book signing with Louise Harrison. She is the sister of former Beatles member George Harrison. She will be signing copies of her book, “My Kid Brother’s Band… aka The Beatles.”

The Encinitas Library will hold isadoraNOW. It is a fusion of dance and historical preservation. It uses the history of dance to help audiences understand and appreciate the artistry of dance. It is sure to be an interesting discussion.

Come see the Summer Adult Book Club “Book-to-Movie” Presentation. It is held at the Cardiff Library at 2081 Newcastle Avenue. Admission is free. It will be presenting “To Kill a Mockingbird,” the 1962 award winning adaptation featuring Gregory Peck.

The San Diego Botanic Gardens will be holding Thursday Family Fun Nights. Bring the kids to enjoy fun in the Hamilton Children’s Garden. From 6PM to 7PM there will be kid friendly entertainment. Performance by San Diego favorites Hullabaloo.

The La Paloma Theater 471 S. Coast Hwy 101 hosts the La Paloma Summer Poetry Slam. Admission is free. It is the 16th year of summer poetry slams in this historic theater. Poets will compete for cash prizes.
