Recently a key real estate index has shown that San Diego County had the largest home price increase in all of California over the last year. San Diego County and San Francisco’s median home price increased by 6.4 % according to a study done by June S&P CoreLogic Case Shiller Indices. This makes us and San Francisco tied for the highest is price appreciation in California. Following closely behind are Los Angeles and Orange Counties with an appreciation rate of 5.3 %.
If you think those increases are high, then you will be wowed to hear that Portland holds the national record this year for biggest sales price increase at a whopping 12.6%. There does seem to be a trend focused on the West. Probably because the West coast is the best coast. That’s the phrase isn’t it?
David Blitzer, the managing chair of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices, said that there were 654,000 homes sold nationwide in July of this year which is the absolute highest it has been since November 2007. July’s median home price was unchanged from June at $495,000.
