As Autumn draws closer this weekend provides a great many opportunities to get out of your Encinitas home and take in the remaining beauty of Summer in the San Diego Area. As most of you already know, you can always find plenty of Encinitas entertainment choices on my weekend blog posts.
This Saturday, September 18th you can roll back the wheels of time into the nostalgic era of the classic “Woodie” at the Wavecrest Woodie Meet, taking place on Moonlight Beach from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
This annual event, one of the largest in the United States, features 250-300 automobiles and includes a variety of foods drink and entertainment to accompany the prestigious display of classic wooden cars and trucks from yesteryear. If your nautical nerves are twitching you will definitely want to check out the Fleet Week Big Bay Family Festival located at the B Street Cruise Terminal in downtown San Diego on Saturday September18th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This free and unique exhibit offers the public the ability to to climb aboard US Navy ships and explore other military static displays and chat with Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen.
Art lovers will enjoy a relaxing stroll along the waterfront at the Artwalk on the Bay at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront nearby many popular waterfront activities.
This free celebration of visual arts begins at 10:00 am on Saturday September 18th and runs through the weekend. An alternative art celebration will also be taking place this weekend at the the 5th annual Coronado Art Walk located on Coronado Ferry Landing from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Packed with over 80 local artists, entertainment and food, this event is free to the public as well.
Hard Rockers will thrill to this years Uproar Festival presented by Rockstar Energy Drink.
The exciting line up includes Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold, along with Stone Sour and Halestorm on the main stage as well as Airbourne, Hail The Villain, New Medicine and the Jägermeister Battle of The Bands winner from local contests around San Diego. The festival and fist pumps begin at 3:00 pm on Saturday September 18th at 3:00 pm. Prepare to rock through the night!
Sports fans won’t be disappointed as the San Diego Chargers host the Jacksonville Jaguars at QualCom Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is 12:15 pm. Come out and cheer on the Chargers as they take home turf after their exciting and close match upon the premier of last week’s Monday night Football!
