How to Clean Up Really Quickly Right Before Hosting

Imagine coming home late from work. It’s 6:30pm and you have guests coming at 7pm and the house is a mess. We have all been there at one time or another. Especially during the holiday season. Here are some great tips for tidying up your home quickly so that it looks like you prepped your house for hours:

  • Focus your attention on high-traffic areas of the house. Don’t spend any time on rooms that guests won’t see. In fact, use those rooms to hide all the stuff out in the open.
  • Remove as much clutter as you can, as fast as you can. The mail, magazines, empty glasses. Just put everything in a junk drawer or one of those rooms no one will go in.
  • Make space for your guests to lay their bags and hang their coats. If there is nowhere to put them then they will lay them everywhere and the place will look much messier than it actually is.
  • Light some candles because a nice scent makes everything feel put together and planned.
