These tips will help you decorate your San Diego home on a budget whether you are selling your home or just looking to spruce up the place without breaking the bank.
Decorating a new home? Redecorating your current residence or the property you are looking to sell? Designer paint colors, modern furniture, and other interior design accoutrements can run up a hefty tab if you are not careful. At the same time, home decorating on a budget doesn’t mean your furnishings have to consist of milk crates and bricks either. Here are a few tips on how to decorate on a budget without looking like it.
Proper Planning
Taking some time to plan out your approach is crucial to decorating on a budget. One of the best ways to do this is by using modern apps and social media like Pinterest, Houzz, ColorSchemer or SnapShop. You can even go “old school” and use magazine clippings and a notebook or journal to take pictures from magazines or newspapers to help you plan out your room and design.
Change the Upholstery
Instead of having to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on brand-new furniture you can purchase slipcovers for the pieces you already have or add some pillows and other accessories. For the kitchen you may even want to visit an unfinished furniture store for items like a table or chairs and then paint them yourself to match your vision of the room.
New Colors
Adding color can be achieved through drapes or curtains or through new paint, but knowing the psychology of these colors can help you better decorate each room. For example, blue will create a feeling of serenity, while red can bring an intensity to the room.
