Hearst Castle…What a Place

Happy Friday one and all! I am sure many of you have heard of Hearst Castle, many of you have probably taken a tour of it. However, for those of you who haven’t you’ve got to know about this place. It is so unbelievably ostentatious and I love it. The 165-room estate was built by the media mogul William Randolph Hearst, the man who was fictionalized in the classic film “Citizen Kane”.
It covers 250,000 acres of land and contains two colossal pools filled with 550,000 gallons of water. This property is so over-the-top that you find it hard to believe the photos don’t come from the Palace of Versailles or Buckingham Palace. After building this property Hearst went into 100 million dollars of debt. How about you take a look at the pictures and tell me if you think it was worth it.
Take a look at the links below for a virtual tour on the Hearst Castle Museum’s website and a more extensive slideshow of pictures on CNET. After seeing those you might consider taking a spontaneous weekend getaway road trip. After all, it isn’t too long of a drive. If you end up going or have been already, post some pictures in the comments section!
Have a great weekend everyone! Don’t forget to treat yourself…William Randolph Hearst certainly didn’t forget.
