What many people do not realize is how effective an open house can be for a buyer or a seller. In honor of the National Association of Realtor’s 2013 Nationwide Open House Weekend, which will be held April 20 and 21, here are some reasons that an open house can be so beneficial for home buyers and sellers:

  • When it comes to repeat buyers in the housing market, they are more likely to find their home through an open house and attend open houses more often as a result.
  •  Those who have an income of $55,000 to $75,000 are the most likely income group to find a home through an open house. The use of open houses actually increases with income, although those with high incomes do not find their house as often through an open house as those with middle income.
  • As with income, the use of open houses also increases with age. About 28% of buyers between the ages of 18 and 24 use open houses, compared to 45% of buyers aged 45 to 64. Buyers over the age of 65 are the most likely to use and find their home through open houses.
