The Priciest Views in Real Estate
- Neighborhoods and News
- May 1, 2017
Even though we all know that location matters, especially me as a real estate agent, it is important to note that location is not the only thing that matters in regards to space but also the view. You can be in the same location but whether your windows face east or west in that location can make a world of difference. There are many people in the world who would pay a whole lot of dough in order to get the best views in the country. How much would you spend on a breathtaking view? I would empty my pocketbook a bit, that is for sure.
Millions of dollars are spent to wake up every morning to the iconic sights of Manhattan’s Central Park, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, Lake Michigan in Chicago, Miami Beach, and the Las Vegas Strip. Realtor.com wanted to see exactly how much more people pay for those coveted views so they got the data team to compare how much homes of similar size cost with and without the amazing view. They found that gorgeous views are not an inexpensive commodity and most of the best views are found in high-rise luxury buildings.
1. Manhattan, NY: Central Park
Median list price with the view: $3,795,000
The view premium: 39.9%
2. San Francisco, CA: Golden Gate Bridge
Median list price with the view: $2,450,000
The view premium: 33.1%
3. Miami Beach, FL: South Beach
Median list price with the view: $944,000
The view premium: 103.4%
4. Chicago, IL: Lake Michigan
Median list price with the view: $525,000
The view premium: 96.8%
5. Las Vegas, NV: The Strip
Median list price with the view: $425,000
The view premium: 210%
I think we would all love views as gorgeous as these but the question is: how much are we willing to pay for it?
