It’s hard to believe that Fall is already here! We’re about a week into October already and that means Halloween is just around the corner. This year, enjoy everything that fall has to offer here in Encinitas and the surrounding area this year. We’ve gathered a couple of local pumpkin patches that you can bring the whole family with to enjoy a nice fall day. Just in time for this weekend, here’s a few pumpkin patches near you. There’s plenty of activities available for the kids, and great food available as well. So get your idea for your Jack-O-Lanterns this year to display outside of your house in Encinitas, and pick out a great big orange pumpkin from one of these places this weekend!
Stu Miller’s Pumpkin Patch
(760) 436-1824
Located right here in Encinitas, they offer free admission to browse their pumpkin patch each year. Pick out one or more for your family, and take advantage of the Kiddie ride and jump so the kids can have fun too. Open 9 to 9 daily, and it’s a great place to spend a few hours on the weekend anytime before Halloween!
Pumpkin Station at Del Mar
(888) 302-8733
Located across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds, this patch is open from 9 to 9 through Halloween day. Admission to the pumpkin patch is free, and there are tickets available for purchase for one of the kid’s rides, petting zoo, and jumps. And if you’re kids are brave enough, there’s a haunted house too! With a wide variety of pumpkins, gourds, squashes, and Indian corn, you can gather enough vegetables here for a great fall meal this Sunday, or to aid in decorating your house in Encinitas for Trick-or-Treaters.
American Barnyard Company
(619) 291-2473
If you’ve got time to make it to Escondido, then you’ll have a ball at American Barnyard Company. Pick a fresh pumpkin from their pick-in-the-field patch, or take one of their prepicked ones. There’s a straw maze to wander through, pony rides and petting zoos for the kids as well. Snacks and a refreshment stand is available, as well as a picnic area and restrooms. They’re open for the rest of the month from Tuesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and they’re closed on Mondays. It’s easy to spend an entire fall day here at American Barnyard Company, so pack some lunches for the family and head down this weekend!
St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church
(760) 887-3033
St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlsbad starts their 5th annual pumpkin fundraiser this weekend and is home to all sorts of fun entertainment for the entire family! The patch will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, noon to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays through Halloween. Come pick a pumpkin for a good cause, and stay for pumpkin bowling and refreshments on Saturdays. Class field trips during the day are available, so call ahead if you’re a teacher or Day Care coordinator. Storytellers are available as well.
