Most people are aware of Habitat for Humanity and the work that they do to build homes in Encinitas and across the globe for struggling families. For over 36 years Habitat for Humanity has built over 500,000 homes worldwide and helped to shelter over 2.5 million people with safe and affordable housing build with volunteer labor and funded by monetary donations as well as donations of materials.

Homes built by Habitat for Humanity are sold to partner families who invest their time and energy into building the home. The family pays a low down payment and a monthly mortgage at affordable rates and result in no profit to the organization.

What many people are unaware of, however, are the ReStore resale outlets that generate income for Habitat for Humanity, which is then used to build more homes around the world. With over 825 locations throughout the United States and Canada, ReStore sells new and gently-used home improvement goods, furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances at a fraction of the retail cost to benefit both the buyer and their organization. Additionally ReStore takes in donations of the aforementioned materials and uses volunteer labor to run these stores.
