A $15,000 grant from the city of Encinitas kickstarts a new ElderHelp HomeShare program, designed to assist seniors and low-income residents with housing and care needs. The program allows homeowners to share their living space with a person in need, either in exchange for rent or services. All housing seekers and providers must clear a thorough screening process before participating in the program.
The HomeShare arrangement is a unique solution for providing mutual support for residents without requiring any new construction. Currently, the program is devoted to assisting as many elderly and low-income residents as possible over the next year.
More information about the ElderHelp and HomeShare services are available here, including eligibility requirements and everything you need to get started with the program.
