San Diego Pumpkin Patch Has ’40 Years of Tradition’

Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center, CA – 19 miles away from Encinitas- has been famous for years, but every year starting September 25th, they host their pumpkin patch.

The pumpkin patch aspect of Bates Nut Farm, that has been run over four decades, is located at 15954 Woods Valley Road. Not only does the Bates Nut Farm host the pumpkin patch, but it also has a corn maze, hay ride, a general store and petting zoo to get you into the Halloween spirit.

You could find the most gigantic pumpkins in the San Diego County area. This dog-friendly location is good experience for kids to the elderly.

This 100-acre farm will be hosting the ‘Pumpkin Patch-Over 40 Years of Tradition,’ till that costume-heavy day approaches October 31.

To complement the Charlie Brown Halloween Special sized pumpkins, the Farm will be hosting different events inside the pumpkin farm on the weekends. On Saturday the 19th, they will hold a costume contest and a parade. Also October 20th will be the ‘Howl ‘O’ Ween,’ Doggie Costume Contest. The entry form to compete in the contests are located on the Bates Nut Farm website.

Every Saturday and Sunday, gourmet chef trucks will attend the celebrations. These trucks sell dishes in San Diego that scream culture and delicious eats. Sunday October 20th, the Pierogi Truck will come around serving Polish and Eastern European cuisine and on October 26th will display the Crepes Bonaparte Truck – a vehicle that has been featured on the Food Network, the Cooking Channel and QSR Magazines ‘Top 20 Food Trucks in America.’

Along with numerous music performances and recreation for the kids, the pumpkin picking expedition is open 9 am – 5:30pm Monday through Friday and on the weekend 8:30 am – 6 pm. Go pick up your pumpkins today!
