- Real Estate Tips
- February 12, 2015
If you are selling your home, I am sure you are looking to get the most value out of it. There are several things you can do to make sure the value of your house is maximized. These tips are especially useful when the market takes a downturn.
Paint your home
As we all know, appearances are very important when selling a house, and a fresh coat of paint is a simple and easy way to help improve the value of your house. When choosing a color, you can visit various sites to figure out what color would match the mood of a specific room (i.e, blue for relaxing, red for hunger, etc.). But it is best to stick with neutral colors, since it appeals to the greatest amount of people.
Also, don’t forget to paint the outside if it needs it, since the exterior is the first thing people will notice when they check out your house.
Create space
People love spacious homes. It creates a sense of flow, and gives a sense of grandeur in the house. A room can look more spacious simply by using monochromatic colors and different shades create depth in a room. If possible, go ahead and knock out a non-structural wall, or get rid of the kitchen island if there is enough cabinet space.
Let in more light
The abundance of light, especially natural light, increases the appeal of a house. There are several ways to allow more natural light to flow inside your home. One way is to use more mirrors, as they reflect light rather than absorb it. Venetian blinds are another good choice, as it allows you to control the amount of light and direction that enters a room. It would also be a good idea to trim hedges and bushes that could be blocking the flow of light through the windows.
